Door prizes
National prize: The overall winner of the ESU National Shakespeare Competition receives a full tuition scholarship to the British American Drama Academy’s Midsummer Conservatory Program in Oxford, England. The runner-up receives $1,000 from the English-Speaking Union, and the third-place winner is awarded $500 by The Shakespeare Society.
San Francisco ESU Branch prizes: The winner of the Branch Competition and two runners up in our San Francisco event all receive prizes. The winner receives an all-expense paid trip to New York City and is automatically entered as a participant in the National Competition. He or she ALSO wins $250 as a gift from our local ESU-SF. The two runners up to our branch competition also receive cash prizes: second prize is $200; third prize is $150.
Door prizes: Students who participate in the ESU-SF Branch Competition are all automatically entered into a prize draw for door prizes. These range in value from $30-$100 and can include editions of Shakespeare's works, plus more contemporary items like iTunes gift cards. Rules for the door prizes are simple: only students in the audience may win door prizes, and the winners must be present in the auditorium to claim prizes. A student may only win one door prize at the event.
