ESU Branches provide high-school teachers in their communities with full or partial Fellowships that enable them to study at Oxford University, the International Globe Centre, or the Scottish Universities Summer School at the University of Edinburgh. Courses are offered from early July to mid-August and include English literature, creative writing, and teaching Shakespeare.
Twenty-eight ESU Branches gave BUSS scholarships to 47 teachers in 2007.
The opportunity to become a student through the British University Summer School (BUSS) program energizes teachers and allows them to bring back to the classroom a broader educational perspective. BUSS is a vibrant National/Branch partnership that offers qualifying Branches challenge grants and travel stipends through the Treadwell Memorial Scholarship Fund.
Teachers interested in these Fellowships should contact the ESUSF branch. Detailed brochures and application forms from The Globe, Oxford and Edinburgh usually arrive at the branch in February. Please e-mail info@esusfshakespeare.org
